FOR THE FAMILY

Family Day
Sunday, October 30 / 11:00am-4:30pm

The Downrigging Pavilion at the Foot of High Street - free

Children of all ages will have a great time on Sunday during Downrigging Weekend’s Family Day on the Chestertown Waterfront. There will be loads of hands-on activities, most of them absolutely free. Featured activities for Family Day include:

Model Boat Building & Sailing: For as little as $5 you can build your own wooden model boat and then sail it in our model boat pond. Pre-made models are also available to sail for free!

Horn Point Touch Tank: Come see and handle live fish, including sturgeon, striped bass and more. This is a huge hit with children!

Scales and Tales: The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will be on hand with a selection of live birds, snakes, and reptiles. The owls and hawks are always a favorite.

Pumpkin Decorating: Family Day will be the day before Halloween, so there will be plenty of pumpkins on hand for children to decorate.

Children’s Harmonica Workshop with Frédéric Yonnet

Frédéric Yonnet is considered one of the finest jazz musicians in America and among the best harmonica players in the world. While Yonnet regularly plays with the likes of superstars such as Prince and Stevie Wonder, he also has a passion and a talent for teaching children about music. Yonnet will be leading a children’s harmonica workshop at the foot of High Street from 3:00-4:00pm on Saturday. This is not an opportunity you or your child want to miss.
